August William Derleth
1909-1971

August Derleth was widely considered as Wisconson's most prolific writer... and prolific he was, producing numerous books (150+ books are STILL in print!) and stories and other writings during his long writing career.  He wrote under a variety of pen names and was well-known for his fantasy/science fiction and mystery writings.  He was a friend of a number of well-known writers of his period, including H. P. Lovecraft, who was famous for his Cthulu horror fiction.  He is best known in Sherlockian circles for his Solar Pons series of pastiches and the book company Mycroft and Moran, which published a number of Sherlock Holmes books.  More information about Mr. Derleth can be found at the August Derleth Society.
